Junior group leader positions (Collegium Researchers, 4 positions) in the fields of Science, Medicine and Technology

The Turku Collegium for Science, Medicine and Technology (TCSMT) is supported by the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Technology and the Faculty of Medicine. TCSMT is now seeking four (4) ambitious early career researchers to start independent research work at one of the departments at the University of Turku, including Turku School of Economics. The positions are funded for three years with the possibility to apply for an extension of two years. Successful applicants may begin their employment on 1.1.2025 at the earliest, 1.5.2025 at the latest.

Who we are looking for

The candidates considered must have outstanding potential and established excellence in research. An optimal candidate has received their doctoral degree certificate a minimum of three years and a maximum of nine years before the submission deadline for applications. Not included in the net period of nine years are family leaves, military service, etc. 

Particular attention will be paid to the quality of the candidate’s research proposal and international research experience (significant post-doctoral research conducted abroad is essential). Attention is also paid to how the research of the applicant relates to the collaborative themes of research at the University of Turku. The multidisciplinary nature of the research activity is considered an advantage.

The Board of TCSMT will fill the positions offered based on an international call and an external evaluation of the applications. The top candidates will be interviewed.

Salary and trial period

The salaries of collegium researchers are determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel.  The salary for Collegium Researcher positions corresponds to a requirement level 7 and the pre-estimated personal performance percentage of 17% (current euro-dominated gross salary 5 054 €/month). Progress in the researcher's personal performance can be taken into account when determining the salary during employment. 

The position has a trial period of six months.

Turku Collegium for Science, Medicine and Technology

The Turku Collegium for Science and Medicine (TCSM), was launched with funding from the Consortium comprising the University of Turku and Turku School of Economics. The aim of TCSMT is to establish a multidisciplinary, interactive research platform for dynamic scientists in science, medicine and technology.
