R&D Engineer

We are now looking for a world class R&D Engineer(s) to join our Product Development team. We are continuously improving our existing products, developing something new to amaze our customers and of course building our own competencies in the process.

You could be the person we are looking for if you have a proven background in mechanical engineering, and you’re willing to challenge yourself in order to be the best. You're comfortable with tolerance chain analysis and FEM, CFD, and/or acoustics simulations and you have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant field in engineering. You've worked in product development projects focusing in demanding development tasks with your own responsibility areas, which could have been e.g.

  • Sheet metal design
  • Aluminium profiles
  • Casting technologies
  • Wood products
  • Manufacturing for mass production
  • Package design

In this position we expect you to take ownership for defined development tasks including technical design. Cost and quality will be important aspects of your daily work. You get to communicate with suppliers, production and other interfaces with the most cooperative attitude. You will ensure the quality of your designs e.g through tolerance chains, quality analysis and rigorous testing. You are expected to know when your design is ready and can handle the balance between quality, schedule and technical requirements. 

To succeed in this role, we expect you to:

  • work independently and have the skill to make decisions regarding mechanical solutions
  • have great problem solving skills
  • balance between technical/cost/quality requirements to create best possible solution
  • handle several requirements in parallel and achieve results based on these
  • identify risks and do risk mitigation planning
  • have the ability to steer suppliers work related to technical topics
  • document your own work

For us, R&D Engineer job means all this:

  • Ideate and create design concept and final mechanical solution of a product/module/ component based on requirements
  • Ensure technical feasibility, quality and cost of the created solution
  • Proof of concept - Build concept prototypes / test setups for mechanical solutions used in Framery products
  • Create test specification together with test engineer and do corrective actions based on test results
  • Create risk analysis on own design with D-FMEA and mitigate identified risks
  • Perform peer/design reviews on own and other engineers / subcontractors designs
  • Evaluate and implement solutions with (potential) suppliers to ensure supplier capability & technical feasibility
  • Support supply chain development to productize the solution through the lifetime of the product
  • Co-operate with internal interfaces to perform DfX on own design
