Scientist Enzyme Biochemistry & Application

The Role

As Scientist Enzyme Biochemistry & Application, you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment, working with cutting edge technologies and a broad portfolio of diverse projects. This is a challenging, bench-scientist position with a high level of independence, and thus plenty of opportunity for further personal development, and an attractive compensation package.

You will:

  • Play a key role in the characterization of our enzymes under application conditions and the development of application-relevant assays, thereby advancing our knowledge of enzyme behaviour in final Food and Industrial enzyme application
  • Support broadening and optimizing the application expertise in our growing team
  • Work in project teams, in which you take ownership for the work that you independently plan and carry out - including literature and patent search, use of computational tools & databases, design of experiments and their implementation in the lab
  • Document, report and present your results to internal and external  stakeholders (e.g., both to project teams as well as customers and partners)
  • You will be part of the Enzyme Technology team based in Germany and will interface with the global R&D and Application Development teams located in Germany and in Finland, as well as other disciplines (e.g., Business, Marketing & Sales)

Who we are looking for

About You

 As an ideal candidate, you have:

  • Master´s degree or equivalent in biochemistry, application science or equivalent work experience. Industry experience is preferred
  • A passion for understanding and using enzymes in application to develop new innovative enzyme solutions for customers
  • A good understanding of enzyme applications in (some of the) following areas: Food (e.g., Baking, Protein Modification, Fruit processing) and Industrial (Detergents, Textiles, Pulp & Paper)
  • Experience in the analysis of both enzymes and complex carbohydrates, in particular by HPLC and FPLC
  • Experience in enzyme kinetics and the development of analytical methods, and in understanding protein structure-function relationships with link to application
  • A hands-on attitude combined with a drive for results; you are a true team player
  • The continuous desire to learn and develop new skills as well as the flexibility and interest to work on enzymes for various applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and capabilities
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, German is a plus
