You will be working in the ‘Autonomous Vehicle Planning & Control Algorithm’ team, alongside other engineers and experts to develop production scale motion control and planning stack for Sensible 4. As a Senior Motion Planning Engineer, you are expected to contribute to the design, development and implementation of the motion planning algorithms and optimal trajectory generation in our vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement motion planning strategy for the fleet of Sensible 4’s autonomous vehicles.
  • Assuring safe, reliable and comfortable autonomous vehicle motion ranging through the development of route and behavior planning, decision making, risk-assessment and subsequently, increasing the ride comfort experience.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team and work closely with other experts to develop production scale Autonomous Vehicle Collision Avoidance System, which also include the discussions of decision making, risk assessment and environment detection.

What we need from you

  • Preferably PhD or MSc, with focuses on motion planning, robotics, collision avoidance systems, game theory or related areas.
  • Fluent C++ programming skills.
  • Extremely motivated to solve real problems with the architectural-like mentality.
  • Excellent team player with the ability to communicate your ideas effectively, which include the means of documentation and presentations.
  • Proven experience and deep understanding of motion planning algorithm design for real-time nonholonomic autonomous vehicles (air, road or space) or robotics platforms (e.g. Artificial Potential Field, Bezier, A*, Dijkstra, RRT, Convex Spline, POMDP etc).
  • Experience in algorithm development for complex Linux-based real-time embedded systems.
  • Strong foundations in mathematics such as linear algebra and geometry.
  • Broad experience in computational simulation algorithm development (automotive, aviation or robotics).

About Finland

Are you not from Finland? No worries, we are an international team and our working language is English. Finland may be dark and cold place during winter season (that’s our strength for data collection and making systems working in all weather conditions!), however, it is one of the most beautiful, peaceful and safe places to live. In fact, Finland has been ranked on of the best places in the world (, we are the happiest nation in the world, and we are known for the best education in the world. We encourage you to try out!
