Software Engineer - Localization & Mapping

Work Overview

Our team is growing and we are looking for a Software Engineer to join our mapping and localization team. We're searching for an engineer with an advanced degree and experience building mapping and localization systems that work with real-time data in uncertain environments, and a strong desire to contribute to the future of autonomous driving.

We’re searching for a talented, autonomous vehicle software engineer who has designed, developed, and implemented navigation and localization software for safety-critical robotics applications. As part of the mapping and visualization team, you will be able to design, implement, and improve algorithms used to create and manage map data as well as algorithms used to localize a vehicle within the map in real time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with group of software engineers and scientists to design and implement cutting edge autonomous driving technologies
  • Track and apply the latest algorithm improvements from industry and the research community
  • Work on a diverse set of data including GNSS, IMU, RADAR, odometry, and vision data to estimate vehicle pose and create high-precision maps of the world
  • Improving robustness of location algorithms based on different operating environments
  • Implementation of the navigation/localization subsystem through the complete development lifecycle: requirements, design, code development, unit testing, and release/support
  • Improve our multi-sensor localisation algorithms and architecture
  • Improve efficiency of the map generation process

What we need from you

  • BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, SW/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics/Robotics Engineering or related field
  • Strong C++ Programming skills and feel comfortable with Unit Testing
  • Experience with state estimation, SLAM, nonlinear optimization, probabilistic filtering, and 3D pointcloud data
  • Extensive experience with algorithm design
  • Experience designing, implementing and extending novel algorithms
  • Experience with Linux and Git

What we consider a plus

  • Experience with autonomous robots
  • Experience with realtime sensor fusion (e.g. IMU, lidar, camera, odometry, radar)
  • Solid understanding of ROS
  • Experience working with real-time systems, large-scale scalable software architectures, and large data sets
  • Motivated to write high quality software

What you get

  • An opportunity to learn from the best in an amazingly creative environment
  • A chance to solve challenging real world problems and to see your code move real robots
  • Learn lots of useful skills related to SW development and robotics
  • Senior engineers will also get management responsibilities
