VTT Summer of Changemakers 2021 is looking for you. We offer over 30 truly meaningful summer traineeships, where you get to challenge yourself and build your career in a community of brilliant minds. We are one of Europe’s leading research organisations. We turn global challenges – from climate change and resource sufficiency to industrial renewal and smart healthcare – into sustainable growth with the latest and best tools of science and technology. Do you want to be the next Design Trainee?

The design team at VTT is working in close collaboration with VTT clients, partners and researchers across a variety of topics and industries. Our objective is to bring human-centric design tools, skills and culture to the world of research and science. By collaborative ways of working, we drive positive impact with people, businesses and society.

As a trainee at VTT Design, you will be joining more senior designers in ongoing project work, ranging from sustainable industries to smart cities and beyond. In addition, you will be taking part in our offering development tasks – bringing fresh thinking and new ideas from your personal background and studies.

What would your responsibilities include?

• Collaborate with VTT designers and researchers, supporting ongoing project work
• Support in developing tools and concretizing novel, multidisciplinary approaches for design in research
• Support in making design approaches visible for VTT’ers and to our external stakeholders

Who we are looking for?

To succeed in the position, you have following background and skills:

• Experience in relevant, design related studies (ongoing or recently finished)
• Solid understanding of design theories and practices
• Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills
• Experience in co-creation and workshop facilitation
• Professional working fluency in English 

The ideal VTT Changemaker is a curious mind, who is eager to develop and take on new challenges. We appreciate ambition and willingness to learn over having all the answers or skills ready when you start. You are also a team player with strong collaboration skills who wants to drive positive impact in the world.
