Our software is a critical infrastructure for small and medium businesses across the Nordics. Every time we automate a routine task or surface the right information at the right moment, a business owner gets time back and a clearer view of their operations.  AI plays a central role in this transformation. Not as a novelty, but as a practical way to remove repetitive work and support better decisions.  

As an AI Engineer, you will design, build and operate GenAI-powered capabilities in our core products, from LLM-based assistants and agentic workflows to retrieval over financial and HR data. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role where ideas move quickly from prototype to production, and you stay accountable for how they perform once real customers rely on them. We’re looking for someone who has already done this: shipped GenAI to production and kept it running well.  

💡 Your key tasks and responsibilities include: 

• Designing, building and shipping LLM-powered features such as assistants, agents, retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and document understanding into our core products.
• Turning prototypes into production-grade services with robust APIs, error handling, as well as latency and cost under control.
• Building evaluation pipelines, test sets and guardrails so we know a feature works before and after release.
• Monitoring and improving GenAI features in production using tracing, telemetry and customer feedback.
• Identifying where automation and intelligent features bring real customer value, and validating ideas early.
• Improving and extending the data and engineering foundations behind our AI solutions.

You will get to join our growing 50 person Finago KL team and work in our AI organization across Finago's Nordic offices in collaboration with other AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and Developers who enjoy solving real problems and sharing knowledge. This is a full-time and permanent position, and the preferred start date is in February, 2027.

Ready to make an impact? 💥 

You’ll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving practical customer problems and know from experience what it takes to make GenAI reliable outside a demo. You treat LLMs as engineering components: you measure, test and iterate rather than trusting impressive first outputs. You take ownership of what you build, drive things forward independently, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.  

What we require from you:  

• Proven production GenAI experience: you have designed, built and shipped at least one LLM/GenAI-based product or feature to production with real users, and supported it after launch.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in backend, data or ML engineering, or similar roles.
• Strong Python and solid engineering practices: testing, code review, CI/CD and maintainable services.
• Hands-on experience with core GenAI patterns such as RAG, prompt and context engineering, tool calling and agentic workflows.
• Evaluation and operations know-how: you have built evals, dealt with hallucinations, latency and cost, and monitored LLM features in production.
• Fluent English, as you’ll work daily with colleagues across the Nordics  

It’s a plus if you have experience with fine-tuning or classical ML, with financial or HR data, or with building B2B SaaS products.  

This role isn’t tied to specific technologies, but we want you to know the tools you’ll encounter:  

• Python as our main language
• REST APIs for integrating AI capabilities into our products and services
• LangChain and modern LLM tooling for building intelligent applications
• Databricks for pipelines, experimentation, and model development
• Azure for cloud infrastructure and operations
• SQL as part of our data foundation
• GitHub for collaboration and CI/CD  

You don’t need experience with every tool on this list. What matters is that you have taken GenAI to production and bring solid engineering judgment.
