Lapland Staff is looking for Outdoor Activity Workers for Lapland Safaris Saariselkä & Lapland Safaris Hetta for the Christmas season 2024.  

 

The workday of an Outdoor Activity Worker consists of various tasks including overseeing outdoor activities in a Christmas-themed activity area surrounded by beautiful Lappish nature. As an Outdoor Activity Worker, you will be working with international groups of customers, mainly consisting of families with children. Your job is to make sure that all customers, children, and grown-ups are having a day full of joy and fun. 

The work is mostly independent, but at the same time, you are a part of a big team that works in the same area. The work includes preparation of the activity area and different kinds of maintenance work, as well as cleaning the area after the end of the day. An important task of clothing our guests can also be your responsibility, as well as clothing maintenance. You are not required to be a seasoned professional – we will introduce you to the tasks before the season begins! 

Outdoor Activity Workers work during the busiest Christmas season which means that working days are hectic and sometimes can be long. The length of the days varies according to the group and the program. 

In Saariselkä you will introduce tobogganing, mini-skidoo, kick-sledding, or tandem skiing to our customers. You can also be working at the reindeer info, pancake-hut or at the warmup cabin. Occasionally you might also work as a road crosser, when you make sure that customers are crossing the road safely while they drive a snowmobile for the very first time. Language skills (Spanish/French) are considered an advantage. 

In Hetta your workplace can be a toboggan slide or bobsleigh hill, teaching to drive the snowmobile or serving hot juice in the snow castle and telling stories about the castle. You might also be part of the very important team that organizes the visits to Mr. Claus himself! In Hetta clothing guests and clothing maintenance play a big role in the Outdoor Activity worker's daily routines and work tasks.  

 

 

What we expect from you:  

  • EU-citizenship/passport or valid working permit to Finland

  • Energetic and outgoing character 

  • Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues in English 

  • Flexibility and ability to handle pressure 

  • Good group management skills and willingness to be present

Before the start of the actual work, Lapland Safaris organizes training for the new staff. Knowledge, skills and safety are the main principles of the training. The training language is English. Employees will also be briefed on each task at the beginning of employment. 

The employment relationship is a fixed-term seasonal job with an hour guarantee. Work starts mid-November or at the end of November and will last approximately until the Christmas holidays in Hetta and until the end of December 2024 in Saariselkä. Hourly wage according to Collective Agreement of Adventure Services grade A 9,60-11,55 € gross. Sundays and Finnish bank holidays are paid double. Accommodation is usually organized in shared rooms, with a reasonable rent in comparison to the local price level. Safaris is a non-smoking working place.
