Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure Track, Information System Science
The Faculty of Information Technology is seeking to recruit an Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure Track) in Information System Science starting January, 1, 2026, or as soon as possible after that. The position of an assistant professor is for a fixed term of three to five years, and the position of an associate professor is for a fixed term of five years (according to the tenure track model at the university of Jyväskylä). After each fixed-term assignment, an evaluation procedure will be conducted to assess the employee's qualifications for promotion to the next level (associate/full professor).

Who we are looking for
The teaching and research in information systems science focus on digital transformation, use of IT and its impacts, human-IT relationship, information systems development, digital innovations and services, cybersecurity, as well as their management and governance. These areas intersect with other fields within the IT faculty, particularly software engineering, technology management, technical cybersecurity, and cognitive science, and other fields of sciences at the university, such as business studies, psychology, communication science, and social science. The candidate’s research and teaching activities can target any aforementioned IS areas. The career stage of the recruited candidate will determine the level of responsibility and the requirements of other tasks.
The position of Assistant/Associate Professor includes research and teaching activities and the training of doctoral students. The Assistant/Associate Professor will supervise undergraduate and graduate students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers. Continuous development of teaching and participation in other development and administrative tasks are also part of the Assistant/Associate Professor's job description.
The recruited Assistant/Associate Professor is expected to take responsibility for research projects in their field and secure funding for their research group. The candidate is expected to support the strategy of the Faculty of Information Technology with high-quality scientific research and publication activities in collaboration with the faculty staff and stakeholders.
The Assistant/Associate Professor is required to have a relevant doctoral degree, excellent track record of international-level scientific research and publication activities, international networks, adequate teaching experience, and particularly at the associate level, track record on securing external research funding and on supervising different kinds of theses. These experiences will be assessed in relation to the level of the tenure track career model the candidate has applied. The duties and qualification requirements of an Assistant/Associate Professor are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Candidates should have an excellent record of conducting and publishing scientific research, establishing international networks, acquiring external funding, and teaching. Your personal career plan helps you clarify your goals, and you will receive regular feedback on your work in the initial and follow-up discussions. JYU's starting grant for new tenure track -professors enables a smooth start. The start-up funding is up to 60 000 euros. Salaries are based on job demands and employees’ performance following the Finnish University Salary System. A holiday bonus is paid to all employees. The starting gross salary will be between 4100—4800 EUR/month at the assistant level and between 4700–5500 EUR/month at the associate level depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
