About this opportunity

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer to join a highly professional software development team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications and services that support business-critical digital solutions. You will work closely with colleagues across development, architecture, and business teams to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.

Main responsibilities in this role

• Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services and applications using Java
• Building and enhancing RESTful APIs and microservices
• Writing clean, efficient, vulnerability-free, well-documented, and maintainable code
• Collaborating with front-end developers and other stakeholders to deliver seamless digital solutions
• Optimizing application performance, scalability, and reliability
• Implementing security, data protection, and compliance requirements
• Participating in code reviews and promoting engineering best practices
• Troubleshooting production issues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
• Developing and maintaining automated tests to ensure software quality
• Working actively within Agile/Scrum development teams

Your background and skills include

• Strong expertise in Java (Java 8+, Java 11/17 preferred)
• Experience with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development
• Experience building and maintaining microservices
• Good knowledge of databases and data modeling
• Experience with ORM technologies such as Hibernate
• Familiarity with Git version control
• Experience with Maven or similar build tools
• Understanding of design patterns and object-oriented programming principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Experience writing unit and integration tests
• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• Fluent communication skills in Finnish and English
