Commissioning Engineer (smelting)
On behalf of our customer, we are now looking for a Commissioning Engineer with previous work experience related to smelting plants. Headquartered in Espoo, Finland, our customer is providing sustainable technology, equipment, and services for the aggregates, minerals processing, and metals refining industries This position offers a vantage point in the company's deliveries within metals refining and opportunity for you to travel the world. You will take part in the construction, installation and start-up of a new scrap copper smelting plant in Gujarat, India. This is a long-term international assignment, expected to last at least one year, with the possibility of periodic trips home during the assignment. Accommodation and local transportation will, in most cases, be arranged by the customer.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supervise and coordinate installation and commissioning activities.
- Work closely with the customer, employees, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Monitor progress, quality and site activities.
- Support problem-solving during installation and start-up.
- Ensure that work is carried out safely and according to project requirements.
- Coordinate activities between different disciplines when required.
- Report progress and identify potential issues to the project management team.
- Participate in commissioning, testing and start-up activities.
- Act as a practical link between the project team and the site.
What we expect from you:
The technical requirements are relatively broad. The most important qualification is practical experience from a smelting or metallurgical plant environment.
Your background may be in e.g.:
- Mechanical installation and maintenance
- Electrical systems and installation
- Automation and instrumentation
- Production operations
- Maintenance
- Site supervision or commissioning
You do not necessarily need to have a specific engineering background. Relevant hands-on experience in a smelting environment and the ability to take responsibility on site are the key requirements.
- Previous experience in a smelting / metallurgical plant environment is essential.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas: mechanical, electrical, automation, production or maintenance.
- Practical, hands-on approach and ability to work independently.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Experience working with customers, employees and subcontractors is an advantage.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Willingness to work on an international assignment in India for an extended period.
- Ability to adapt to a multicultural and international working environment.
An international, English-speaking candidate is preferred, as the role involves close cooperation with an international project organization and customer.
