Critical Services Manager
EXE Headhunting is recruiting key professionals for DayOne’s new large-scale data center facility in Kouvola, Finland.
This is a unique opportunity to join DayOne at the early stages of a significant data center investment and become part of the team responsible for building and operating a modern, high-availability critical infrastructure facility. The project has a strong focus on operational excellence, reliability, safety, and continuous development.
Critical Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Management System (BMS) engineering teams, as well as managing the 24/7 shift team to ensure uninterrupted operations of the data centre.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the mechanical, electrical, and BMS engineering teams to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Oversee the 24/7 shift team, ensuring effective communication and coordination to maintain continuous operations.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all critical systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, generators, UPS, and BMS.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and emergency response.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
SLA Compliance
- Ensure all operations and maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with SLAs.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance and performance.
- Address and resolve any issues that could impact SLA compliance promptly.
Project Management
- Manage and oversee critical infrastructure projects, including upgrades, expansions, and maintenance.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all operations adhere to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and drills to ensure team readiness for emergency situations.
- Maintain documentation and records in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the budget for the critical services department.
- Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving measures without compromising service quality.
Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation and process enhancements.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to implement best practices.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data centre operations or a similar critical infrastructure environment, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, generators, UPS, and BMS.
- Strong leadership skills and proven experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, generators, UPS, and BMS.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style
- Certification in data centre management (e.g., CDCP, CDCS) is a plus.
Location and other employment matters
- The data center is located in Kouvola
- The role requires on-site presence in Kouvola five days per week.
- The onboarding period will take place in Malaysia in June.
