DATA ENGINEER

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and operating Wipak’s enterprise data platform and data pipelines. In this role, you ensure that high‑quality, secure, and well‑governed data is available for reporting, analytics, AI, sustainability, and operational use across the organization.

This role is established to strengthen and scale Wipak’s data engineering capability. You will complement existing data and analytics roles by providing a dedicated focus on data foundations, integration, and modeling. The role also includes supporting applied analytics and predictive use cases at a practical level.

The Data Engineer is part of the Wipak Business IT organization and works closely with data, IT, and business stakeholders across the Group.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines (batch and near real‑time)
  • Develop and operate the enterprise data platform and data lake / lake house
  • Integrate data from ERP (SAP), industrial systems, CRM, SRM, and external data sources
  • Transform SAP master and transactional data into analytics‑ and AI‑ready data structures
  • Design and maintain analytical data models optimized for reporting, analytics, and AI use cases
  • Ensure data quality, reliability, monitoring, documentation, and data lifecycle management
  • Apply data governance, security, privacy, and compliance principles in all data solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Data Analysts, IT, Operations, and business stakeholders
  • Provide a robust and scalable data foundation for analytics, AI, and sustainability initiatives

Applied analytics and predictive enablement (secondary responsibility):

  • Support analytics and predictive projects with data preparation and validation
  • Help develop, validate, and explain basic analytical or predictive models
  • Deploy scalable, monitored, and governed analytical solutions on the data platform

This full‑time position can be located in any Wipak European site. We value flexibility, and hybrid work is also possible.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong ability to work with SAP data as a source for analytics, including understanding SAP data structures and modeling master and transactional data for analytical use
  • Experience with cloud‑based data services (Azure preferred)
  • Solid SQL and Python skills and experience in analytical data modeling
  • Experience with ETL / ELT tools, data orchestration, and APIs
  • Experience with analytics platforms (essentially Power BI, Microsoft Fabric)
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and access management
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to translate business needs into robust technical data solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Good collaboration and communication skills in English
  • Ability to use personal productivity boosting AI tools and embed AI based agentic solutions along the data value chain

Additionally, it’s an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or sustainability‑related data
  • Exposure to applied data science, predictive analytics, or machine learning use cases
