DayOne data center - Building Services Manager
Bolt.Works and EXE Headhunting are recruiting key professionals for a new large-scale data center project in Kouvola, Finland.
DayOne is developing and building our first datacenter in Koria, Kouvola, in partnership with Hyperco, initial phases planned to be commissioned by the end of 2026. This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing international data center environment and play a central role in building and operating a modern, high-availability facility from the ground up. The project represents a significant investment in critical digital infrastructure, with a strong focus on operational excellence, reliability, and continuous development.
Building Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the security and soft services across multiple buildings within a data centre cluster. Soft Services include: cleaning services, waste management, landscaping, pest control, handyman repairs, and all front-of-house facilities such as lifts, gates, and roller shutters. The role ensures that the data centre cluster operates smoothly and securely, providing a safe and efficient environment for all employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Security Management
- Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures across all buildings.
- Manage security staff and ensure all personnel are trained and compliant with security standards.
- Oversee access control systems, CCTV, and alarm systems in all buildings.
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
- Respond to security breaches and incidents promptly and effectively.
Vendor and Contractor Management
- Liaise with external contractors and service providers for various facility management services such as cleaning, waste management, landscapes, pest control, property maintenance, repairs and front-of-house facilities
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
- Ensure facilities are regularly inspected and maintained to prevent downtime or malfunctions
- Negotiate contracts and ensure services are delivered in accordance with agreements.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
What We’re looking For
- Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in facilities and vendor management, preferably in a data centre or similar environment.
- Proficiency in facilities management software and tools.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols and experience managing security personnel.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Finnish is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, operational environment.
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with high integrity and a collaborative working style.
Location and other employment matters
- The data center is located in Kouvola
- Primarily on-site five days a week
- The job may include training period abroad
