EU Programmes Advisor, Digital Technologies

We are now looking for an EU Programmes Advisor for EU grants to join our team! 

The job is located within the business area Digital Technologies of 600 professionals. Through our focus areas, we create breakthrough digital technologies for connectivity, resiliency and situational awareness. We drive disruption from data and novel health technologies and develop solutions for microelectronics and quantum computing. Our proposal portfolio targets areas such as printed electronics and microelectronics, sensing solutions, health tech, connectivity, cyber security, quantum computing and metrology.  

With us, you will be part of a business area EU Programmes Team of three people and the VTT-wide professional internal support engine of Horizon Europe and other EU proposals and projects. The location of this position could be in Espoo, Tampere, Oulu or Jyväskylä. 

Your main responsibilities as EU Programmes Advisor: 

  • Ensure the quality and competitiveness of our EU proposals; 
  • Guide and support proposal coordinators in the preparation of competitive proposals; 
  • Generate excellent written text in collaboration with our researchers and technology experts; 
  • Provide Grant Agreement preparation support; 
  • Support the EU project coordinators in implementing and monitoring complex cooperative R&I projects with partners from all over Europe and beyond. 
  • Contribute to the internal Horizon Europe training programme and support processes; 
  • Proactively follow the development of European funding opportunities in digital technologies. 

Who we are looking for:   

  • University degree, Master´s or PhD from a relevant field; scientific background from technology research and/or technical background will be considered beneficial  
  • Good understanding of applied research and development processes; previous experience in R&D and/or innovation consultancy will be considered beneficial 
  • Proven track record of successful EU grant preparations (H2020, Horizon Europe) 
  • Previous experience of EU project management or implementation 
  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to be able to coordinate contributions from partners with different cultural background 
  • Good knowledge of EU funding instruments, including EU Partnerships and co-funded programmes (ERA, EUREKA; ITEA); experience in evaluating EU proposals will be considered beneficial 
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills 
  • Knowledge of and experience in supporting national funding grants (Business Finland, Research Council of Finland) will be considered beneficial
