We are looking for an experienced R&D Footwear Product Developer who will be responsible for developing new products and solutions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. We seek candidates with experience as an Industrial Designer or Technical Product Development expert, or equivalent expertise. You should have experience working with technical solutions and utilization, preferably with footwear. It is a great advantage if you have experience in the personal protective equipment (PPE) industry, but it is not mandatory.

Your responsibilities include:

• Utilize the development process from the idea and concept phase to innovative product and service solutions.
• Utilize new product development technical solutions to production together with production team.
• Oversee materials, components, and tools related to research, development, and innovation, including:
  • Prototypes (outsole, components, uppers etc.)
  • Prototype tooling (S, M, L)
  • Support and work on other related tooling.
• Resolve design and technical / constructional issues.
• Create detailed technical documentation and drawings, such as 3D modeling.
• Verify functionality, manage timetables and follow up on actions.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Lead technology projects, ensuring they meet functional, quality, time, and cost requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and specifications.
• Act and support process in projects such as materials, components, tools, machines, technical solutions, manufacturing methods, manufacturing sites, subcontracting etc.
• Provide technical training on products, both internally and externally.
• Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to develop new products/solutions or enhance existing products.

We would like to see that you have:

• Suitable technical educational background (e.g. bachelor's or master's level).
• Experience as an Industrial Designer, Technical Designer, or similar, with a technical background.
• Over 5 years of work experience in similar roles.
• Knowledge of shoe construction, manufacturing and development.
• Understanding of various compounds, features, and their impacts on products, such as rubber, TPU, EVA, and different toe-cap materials.
• Familiarity with tools like Adobe Creative Suite, SolidWorks, and 3D modeling software.
• Proficiency in 3D design/modeling and assembly capabilities.
• International experience and perspective.
• Strong team leadership skills.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Finnish is a plus, as well as other languages.
