A. Ahlström

We are looking for a General Counsel to lead A. Ahlström’s legal function across our investment and business activities as our current General Counsel will be leaving the company to pursue new professional opportunities after 12 successful years at the company.

The General Counsel is responsible for all legal matters within the group and will serve as a strategic and trusted advisor to the management, Board of Directors and Supervisory Board. The General Counsel acts as Secretary to the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board. In addition, the General Counsel supports portfolio companies and group functions such as HR and finance. The role is essential for safeguarding the company´s legal and governance standards while identifying, evaluating and executing strategic initiatives that support A. Ahlström’s long-term growth and value creation.

What do we expect from you

• Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent advanced legal degree
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in relevant legal roles in respected law firms or as an in-house counsel ideally in an industrial or investment company
• Track record of balancing legal aspects and risks with business and strategic initiatives
• Ideally exposure to top management and board level communication
• Excellent negotiation and project management skills
• Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal abilities
• Maintain high standards of integrity
• Exercise sound business judgement
• Own a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach and is willing to take calculated risks when appropriate
• Fluency in English, Swedish and Finnish

The role is full-time and based in Helsinki, Finland.
