Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian organization providing medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. MSF Finland was established in 2018 and focuses primarily on fundraising and communications to support MSF’s global mission. Since starting our operations in Finland, we have grown into a dynamic, learning organization committed to diversity and inclusion.

We are now looking for an HR Specialist to join our team and strengthen our HR function, ensuring smooth processes and a positive employee experience that enable our humanitarian work.

About the Role

As HR Specialist, you will act as a key partner to managers across the employee lifecycle. You will ensure HR processes are implemented effectively and in compliance with policies, while driving improvements in systems and practices. This role combines operational expertise with development work, offering you the chance to shape HR in a growing organization. You will report to the HR Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Support managers in recruitment, onboarding, appraisals, and other HR processes.
• Act as superuser for our HR system and coordinate updates to improve efficiency.
• Manage employment contracts, payroll verification, and HR reporting.
• Lead engagement initiatives such as pulse surveys and contribute to a positive work culture.
• Design and deliver HR-related training for managers and staff.
• Collaborate with Nordic HR colleagues on job evaluations and policy alignment.
• Serve as focal point for payroll, HRIS, occupational health, and insurance providers.
• Represent MSF Finland in Nordic HR platforms and working groups.

What We Are Looking For

• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience in HR operations or as an HR generalist.
• Familiarity with HRIS and payroll coordination.
• Solid knowledge of HR processes, employment law, and compliance standards.
• Fluency in Finnish and English.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Commitment to MSF’s humanitarian principles.

The position is full-time and permanent. The position starts in February 2026 or as agreed. A six-month probation period applies. Weekly working hours are 37.5, and the monthly salary is 3514 €. Your workstation will be at our office in Vallila, Helsinki, with the possibility of partial remote work.
