We are looking for new talent: Investment Analyst Trainee to the Industrial Investments team in Helsinki

Working as an Investment Analyst Trainee 

In our Industrial Investments team, your tasks will be diverse and hands-on. You will be a part of the team’s day-to-day investing operations, working closely with our experienced professionals. Example responsibilities based on candidate experience and ongoing projects can include: 

• End-to-End Investment Support: Participating in the day-to-day workflow of the industrial investment team, from initial screening to the execution of investment decisions 

• Deal Flow & Screening: Actively identifying and analyzing new investment opportunities that fit our strategic mandate and industrial focus 

• Valuation & Financial Analysis: Building and maintaining financial models, conducting valuations, and performing market analyses 

• Active Ownership & Portfolio Management: Assisting in M&A transactions and various business development projects at our portfolio companies to drive value creation 

• Strategic Analysis: Preparing materials for A. Ahlström’s management and Board of Directors and supporting the team in various tasks related to managing our industrial holdings 

Who we are looking for 

You have an academic background in finance, industrial engineering and management, or a similar field with strong grades. You are a pragmatic, energetic, and self-driven team player who enjoys analyzing businesses and investment opportunities. 

• You have strong analytical skills and mastery of Excel and PowerPoint 

• Ideally, you have gained some initial experience from investment banking, management consulting, or a related industry 

• You are fluent in both Finnish and English 

• You have a "builder" mindset and a genuine interest in long-term investing

We are looking for Trainees for both Spring 2026 and Fall 2026.  

• Spring/Summer: Preferably 3-4 months between February and midsummer 

• Fall: September through December 

The positions are fixed-term and can be part-time (50–100% depending on your studies and our workload) with flexibility regarding the exact duration and starting time.
