We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Laboratory Director to run our next NMR metabolomics laboratory in Porton Down.

The post holder will be responsible for leading our upcoming state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with a modern automated NMR spectrometer dedicated to high-throughput metabolomics. You will have the ultimate responsibility for all activities related to running a laboratory: from building the team to performing sample analysis services to purchases. You will receive and review reports on the status of the implementation of quality control and provide advice on necessary measures for improving our operations. In this position, you get to build and lead a growing team of skillful laboratory managers in brand-new, cutting-edge laboratory facilities. You’ll be supported by other Laboratory Directors working in our laboratories situated worldwide.  

An ideal applicant is enthusiastic and dependable with prior knowledge of analytical measurements and work experience in a laboratory and a passion for healthcare and public health research. Previous experience or knowledge of NMR spectroscopy and automated liquid handlers is desired, but not mandatory. 

We are looking for a candidate with: 

• Master’s degree or higher in Medical Science and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). 

• At least 3 years of experience at a clinical or biomedical laboratory, preferably in a laboratory controlled by a Quality Management System. 

• Desire to both manage and perform hands-on technical work. 

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
