The Department of Accounting and Finance at Turku School of Economics, University of Turku, invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher for fixed-term 1. Jan 2025– 31. Dec 2028.

Employment starts on 1.1.2025 or as agreed.

The position is full-time employment for four years at the Department of Accounting and Finance, in the field of accounting and finance, especially Finance. The Department of Accounting and Finance conducts high-quality research and belongs to the leading Finnish educators of Accounting and Finance. 

Job description

The responsibilities include independent scientific research in the field of finance, developing and teaching courses as well as supervision of theses in finance. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher participates in the planning and execution of research in cooperation with other team members of the finance group, engages in regular departmental activities and takes part in administrative duties.

Requirements

The qualification requirements for the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher are stated in the Rules of Procedure of the University of Turku.

The person selected for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher shall have an appropriate doctoral degree (finance or accounting & finance). The doctoral degree must be completed by the end of the application period. By opening the position of Postdoctoral Researcher, we aim to promote the research career of persons who have recently completed their doctoral degree.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a proven track record of independent and high-quality scientific work in the field of finance. Successful applicants have a strong research orientation and fluency in English.

Desirable qualifications

The finance research at the Department is strongly based on empirical analysis, and therefore successful candidates should provide evidence of published empirical finance research. Previous experience in supervising finance theses is considered as a merit. In addition, in line with the University of Turku's strategy, the Department has invested in research on sustainability and responsibility. Consequently, research publications in the above-mentioned areas will be considered as an advantage.

Salary and trial period

The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. For a Postdoctoral Researcher at the beginning of their career, the salary is approximately 3700–4000 €/month. The amount of the salary is defined when the employment contract is prepared and is influenced by previous experience and skills.

The position has a trial period of six (6) months.
