We are now looking for “Lead, Quantum technology applications” to develop our quantum technology business and the quantum business ecosystem in Finland and beyond.

As a Lead, you will be responsible for identifying and driving the creation of new business opportunities for quantum technologies in both hardware and software applications based on VTT’s R&D in quantum computing, sensing and communication. You will be responsible for building new partnerships with both national and international players. You are a thought leader with passion in turning research results into business in an emerging disruptive technology field. You act as a bridge between research, industry and ecosystem partners, proactively identifying opportunities and bringing the right people together across organisational boundaries. This role supports line management without direct reports. The location of the position is in Espoo. 

The job is located in VTT’s Microelectronics and Quantum technologies research area. We develop quantum technologies for computing, sensing and communication. With our customers and strategic partners, we explore business opportunities and drive the industrialization of quantum technology.

With us, you will be responsible for:

• Driving quantum technologies towards real world applications and business 
• Leading the InnoQ business ecosystem in Finland, and working to build Nordic and European collaboration networks
• Work to create the Finnish quantum competence center as part of an European-wide network of quantum competence centers
• Idenfity applications in the fields of computing, sensing and communications  
• Shape VTT’s offering in quantum technologies and develop ways to commercialize those 
• Seek for new opportunities together with the existing and new research and business networks
• Act as a thought leader in your area and actively build the co-operation with VTT’s other research areas.

To succeed in the position, we are looking for a person with:

• Good overall understanding of quantum technologies (computing, sensing and/or communication) and their application potential – deep technical specialisation is not required
• Experience in B2B collaboration and commercialization activities
• Experience of business development and network building
• University degree in Physics, Information & communication technology or related field
• Good leaderships skills
• Professional English and Finnish language skills (spoken and written) 
• Knowledge of the R&D environment is an asset 
• Prior experience in utilising public funding, e.g., EU and Business Finland funding is an asset.
