Legal and Compliance Trainee

CapMan’s Legal & Compliance team has an overall responsibility for CapMan Group’s legal, tax and compliance issues. These include, among others, Group’s general corporate legal tasks including corporate governance issues, compliance with regulations relating to the Group’s business and operations (e.g. fund management, investment advisory and listed company status) and matters relating to the establishment and operation of private equity and other alternative investment funds. The team consists of eleven members in Helsinki.

To strengthen our team, we are now looking to hire a Legal and Compliance Trainee to join our Helsinki office.

The Role

Working as a Trainee, you will have a great opportunity to gain experience in finance and business law in the private equity field.

Your daily tasks will include e.g.

  • Supporting legal and compliance team in everyday tasks (such as corporate legal matters, reviewing and drafting agreements, KYC tasks and digitalizing processes etc.); and
  • Participating in fundraising projects (for example assisting setting up fund structures and drafting documentation).

Who we are looking for

You are at the later stage (Bachelor's Degree completed) of your academic career in law and have succeeded well in your studies. You are a pragmatic, energetic, diligent and self-driven team player with an interest in developing and improving digitization of legal processes. Ideally, you have gained previous experience in a law firm or finance sector. Both fluent English and Finnish are needed: English is our company language and at the office we speak Finnish.

The position is part-time and fixed-term for 9-12 months starting in December 2024 / January 2025. We hope you are able to commit to working around 30 hours a week during the spring and fall, while working full-time during the summer months. We are flexible with the exact starting time and duration of the traineeship.
