You will be working as part of Chemical Process Technologies -team, which focuses on developing, validating and scale-up of new chemical conversion and downstream processes for high performance bio-based products enabling circularity for society and providing industrial renewal. We provide professional science-based solutions and scale-up services using state-of-the-art research infrastructure
 

With us you will be responsible for

The project, in which we are looking for Master’s Thesis Worker, deals with producing photocurable resins out of sugars and sugar alcohols. The aim of the project is to explore the possibilities substituting the current oil-based photocurable resins with more sustainable alternatives. The initial aim is to produce materials for gel production, but later on composites will be targeted as well.
 

We expect you to have

We are seeking a person with knowledge on polymers and ability to work in a synthesis laboratory. Experience on rheology and UV initiated polymerization is considered as an advantage. You are a Master student with educational background in chemistry or chemical engineering. Excellent communications skills in English are required.
 

As a person

We hope that you have good collaboration skills but you are also willing to work independently and to be able to carry on research of your own under the guidance from your supervisors. We hope that you are goal-oriented, flexible and willing to learn new things. In addition, ability to critically analyze and interpret the results of your work and to work safely in a laboratory is essential. You should also be able to work in a multi-cultural research environment and have good networking skills.

The length of the Master's Thesis work period is 6 months and the thesis work is fee paid. Position is filled as soon as we find the right candidate. The work will mostly take place at VTT Bioruukki Pilot Centre (Ruukinmestarintie 2, 02330 Espoo) and at VTT’s premises in Otaniemi (Tietotie 4E, 02150 Espoo).
