We are now looking for a Master´s Thesis Worker to join our Fibre web processes –team in Jyväskylä. As a Master’s Thesis Worker, you will be working in a VTT project that is part of EnergyFirst theme.

EnergyFirst envisions to radically change the manufacturing processes of paper, board and other fibrous products by reducing the use of energy and water. Although there are a few pathways to this goal, a part of the research will focus on establishing new fabrication methods such as 3D printing of fiber materials. The challenge is to find solutions to fabricate more complex shapes with freedom in design, while aligning with the vision of the EnergyFirst consortium to reduce the use of energy, water and raw materials and maintaining the quality specifications of the end-product.

As a Master’s Thesis Worker, you investigate the 3D printing of porous fiber materials. You look for background information and help with planning, designing and carrying out the experimental work and possibly start writing a scientific article of the results. The goal for the thesis is to create understanding of the current available technology and contribute to kicking-off the research on the topic.

Who we are looking:

  • A highly motivated student with inherent interest in natural sciences and technology, relevant educational background in energy technology, materials science, engineering, bioprocesses engineering, or relevant fields.

  • It’s beneficial if you also have an understanding in: processing/product development of bio-based materials or 3D-printing

  • We expect that you have an interest towards developing yourself as a scientist.

  • Good skills in English (reading, writing, presenting) as the working language of the project is English.

With VTT, you’ll enjoy:
