On behalf of our customer, we look for a Naval Design Engineer (Machinery Systems) with previous work experience related to design of ships. Our customer is one of the world’s largest and most advanced manufacturers of large cruise ships and passenger ferries. Working under the chief engineer in this position you get to learn more about complex design projects right from the conseptualisation stage up until ship delivery. Your job location is at customer headquarters in Turku, Finland. 

Your role includes:

• Responsibility for Basic ship engine room design.
• Preparation of all specifications of systems.
• Technical handling of supplier inquiries.
• Comparison of different systems from suppliers.
• Technical discussions with suppliers.
• Co-ordination between customers, shipyard and system suppliers.
• System engineering at the shipyard.
• Commissioning of the machinery systems on the ships.  

We expect of you: 

• M.Sc./B.Sc. in naval architecture/mechanical engineering as well as general knowledge of ships and systems.
• Basic Design experience of machinery systems of the ships.
• Suitable work experience of 5 + years.
• Knowledge of alternative fuel systems like Hydrogen, Methanol, L&G, Stem, fire extinguishing systems is beneficial.
• Systematic problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to embrace novelties and develop personally and professionally.
• Good computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD/ Aveva E3D / Cadmatic) and readiness to adopt new softwares.
• Fluent verbal and written skills in English are essential, as are co-operation and presentation skills.
• Transparency and visionary open-mindedness.
• Flexibility, team and customer orientation.
• Willingness to travel.
• Self-going solution-oriented work manner.
