Postdoctoral Researcher in Marketing

Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher in Marketing starting October 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible after that for July 31st, 2028. The fixed-term position is for gaining independence as a researcher (post doc) related to the four-stage research career model.

The postdoctoral researcher will be placed in the marketing discipline and the position will advance the research agenda of the marketing field, which focuses on digital marketing, responsible marketing, consumer marketing and consumer behavior, or business-to-business marketing and sales. We are looking for a person whose research area is linked to the faculty's research focus areas (digital business and economy, sustainable business and economy, and decision-supporting economics and economic competitiveness).

The position is an independent research and teaching role, where the individual acts as the responsible planner and implementer. The postdoctoral researcher’s duties include research in the field of marketing within the faculty's research focus areas. The tasks also include high-quality, research-based teaching in the basic, intermediate, and advanced studies of the discipline, mainly supervising bachelor's and master's theses, possibly also doctoral dissertations. In addition to research and teaching duties, the job includes participation in administrative development groups. The person selected for the position is expected to actively participate in obtaining external research funding and developing teaching.

Who we are looking for

The position requires a doctoral degree in marketing or another relevant field, the ability to conduct independent scientific work, and the necessary teaching skills for the position. The applicant is required to have evidence of high-quality academic research, the ability to produce high-quality and independent publications in the research field, and experience in university level teaching. Other relevant qualifications and evidence of high-quality research that advances the areas of marketing research are considered an advantage. We value experience in working in international research groups.

The selected postdoctoral researcher is expected to provide teaching and supervision in Finnish and/or English and have excellent command of the English language. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage. The position is full-time and located in Jyväskylä.

The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of a postdoctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The PhD degree required for the position must have been completed before the starting date. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

The salary for a Postdoctoral Researcher is determined based on the task-specific demand level 5–6 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff. The salary range will be approximately 3700-4800 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
