Postdoctoral Researcher in Mathematics (1-3 positions)

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking to recruit 1-3 Postdoctoral Researchers in Mathematics starting on September 1, 2026 or as soon as possible after that. The positions are for a fixed term of 1–2 years.

We invite prospective candidates to apply for these positions, which will involve research related to one or more research groups of geometric analysis, inverse problems, geometric measure theory and harmonic analysis, or nonlinear partial differential equations. See the detailed descriptions of the research groups at our department's web pages.

Strong preference will be given to candidates whose research interests overlap and/or complement the main research areas of the department. The Postdoctoral Researchers are expected to focus on scientific research, but also to participate in teaching. The amount of teaching duties is rather small.

Who should apply

We are looking for the most promising researchers who have recently completed their doctoral degree or are about to complete it. For the position of Postdoctoral Researcher, a PhD degree is required by the starting date of the contract.

The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of a postdoctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The PhD degree required for the position must have been completed before the starting date. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
