Process Engineer, Bethune
Main Accountabilites:
1. Analyzes, plans, designs, develops, automates, and implements production methods and procedures to manufacture a variety of production quantities from various materials at competitive cost
2. Assesses and implements true process control by way of the Suominen OPEX procedures and methods
3. Provides technical shop floor support in the areas of machining, programming, fabrication, finishing test and assembly for the proper set-up and utilization of equipment
4. Troubleshoots day-to-day shop floor problems pertaining to equipment, tools, raw materials, and design. Determines the source of problems and resolves them
5. Acts as plant coordinator for TPM Suominen continuous improvement program
6. Reviews new or revised design drawings for manufacturing feasibility, optimum product design, and cost using value analyses and practices of sound industrial economics
7. Executes a variety of projects involving the manufacturing of standard and special products, trial of new methods, equipment and tooling up. Recommends, justifies and implements new and/or revised processes to reduce costs and improve productivity
8. Actively participate on Suominen Best Practice team(s) network to take benefits of wider Process Engineering community and also contributes to it

Responsibilities:
Understand manufacturing processes, and documents as appropriate.
Create and maintain process control systems for critical to quality process variables.
Lead the continuous improvement process (in assigned area of responsibility) to reduce variation to meet customer expectations.
Support the cost management process for assigned area of responsibility.
Provide support for continuous improvement and cost management efforts.
Participate on Quality and/or other teams to provide resources, remove barriers, and obtain buy-in and/or other systems and develop effective corrective and preventive action.
Support supplier quality improvement efforts and ensure alignment with plant requirements.
Comply with practices and systems directed toward the pursuit of zero injuries, zero health risk, and zero environmental impact.
Participate with R&D as well as Sales/Marketing on business teams to ensure plant profitability and utilization.
Lead or support efforts to engineer new process designs and incorporate new processes into existing work systems.
Facilitate a plant-wide culture which focuses on internal and external customer needs and requirements.
Identify measurable departmental key performance measures (KPM’s) and develop systems to ensure they add value.
Develop and maintain systems to accurately collect process data records.
Develop and use systems to understand product and process variability.
Maintain a positive relationship with employees.
