Product Developer

Familon / Wendre Finland Oy, Helsinki

About Familon

For nearly 60 years, Familon has been one of Finland's most recognized and trusted sleep brands. Built on a heritage of quality, innovation and Nordic craftsmanship, Familon has helped generations of Finnish families sleep better. As we celebrate this milestone, we are entering an exciting new chapter.

Sleep is our heritage. Beautiful bedroom living is our future.

While Nordic sleep remains at the heart of everything we do, our ambition is to become Finland's leading bedroom lifestyle brand. We are expanding beyond bedding to create complete bedroom environments that inspire comfort, wellbeing and everyday luxury—transforming the bedroom into a personal sanctuary. Alongside our core sleep products, we are growing our assortment with decorative bedding, rugs, headboards, decorative cushions, throws and carefully curated bedroom accessories.

To support this growth and renewal, we are now looking for an experienced Product Developer to join Familon in Helsinki.

About the role

As Product Developer, you will be responsible for the commercial development of Familon’s B2C and B2B product assortment across Familon, Familon Professional and White Label. You will ensure that each product range supports the brand strategy, customer promise, price positioning, profitability, seasonality, sustainability and long-term growth.

This is a senior-level role combining commercial product management, product development, purchasing and negotiations, supplier collaboration, quality, sustainability, budgeting and hands-on project execution. You will work closely with the Product Concept Designer, the purchasing department, supply chain functions, marketing, sales and Wendre Group’s international network, including the product development and production teams in Estonia.

In this role, you will play a key part in Familon’s next growth phase by ensuring that ideas are turned into commercially successful, high-quality products that are delivered to market on time.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a commercial product range for Familon, Familon Professional and White Label. You will work with assortment strategy, price structure, budgets, timelines, seasonal newness, NOOS assortment, product lifecycle, stock management and sustainability targets.

You will define and document quality requirements, sustainability targets and other key product information for different products and product groups. You will ensure that the products support the brand objectives, customer promise, commercial goals and agreed quality and sustainability standards.

Together with the Product Concept Designer, you will build product and assortment concepts across categories such as pillows, duvets, beds, mattresses, bed linen, towels, rugs, interior textiles and new product categories. You will work closely together throughout the design and development process, combining commercial product development, product feasibility and the visual direction of the brand.

You will take part in building product development processes, templates, routines and product timelines together with the Designer and supply chain functions. You will drive assortment and product development work forward in a structured way and according to agreed timelines.

You will work closely with an international supplier network and the purchasing department. You will participate in purchasing activities and supplier negotiations, build and strengthen supplier relationships, negotiate prices according to the price strategy and, together with purchasing and finance, ensure that supplier agreements, Code of Conduct requirements and annual updates are in place.

You will monitor sales figures, market data and consumer behaviour and translate insights into concrete actions for the product range. You will analyze the product portfolio, identify strengths, gaps and potential, and prepare proposals for introducing new products or phasing out older ones.

You will collaborate closely with purchasing, Wendre Estonia, TTO and the quality department, particularly regarding materials, qualities, production, samples and product development at the Pärnu factory. You will also contribute to ordering photo samples and ensuring that the showrooms in Helsinki and Estonia are kept up to date.

You will be involved throughout the full product lifecycle, from idea to launch. You will participate in product naming, concept texts, packaging design and commercial storytelling together with purchasing, marketing and sales. The role also includes sample handling, measurements, sample marking and product approvals, as well as coordinating wash, durability, colour fastness and shrinkage testing either internally or with third parties.

What we expect from you

We are looking for an experienced product development, product management or assortment development professional with strong commercial understanding and the ability to lead products from idea to market. You may have a background in bedding/sleep products, textiles, home interiors, furniture, consumer products, category management or similar product categories. Experience from the bedding or sleep category is considered a clear advantage.

We hope you have approximately 10 years of experience in roles such as Product Developer, Product Manager, Category Manager, Assortment Manager or similar. You are used to working with commercial assortments, pricing, budgets, margins, sales data, suppliers, purchasing, negotiations and production timelines.

You will succeed in this role if you understand both the commercial and practical sides of product development. You know how to build an assortment based on strategy, price, demand, profitability, quality and brand fit. You are able to evaluate what should be developed, what should be continued and what should be phased out.

We value experience in purchasing, supplier negotiations, price negotiations, supplier agreements, sustainability requirements, Code of Conduct practices, certifications and quality management. You do not need to be a deep technical expert in every product category, but you should have a solid enough understanding of materials, construction and quality to communicate effectively with suppliers, purchasing, production and quality teams.

Ability to use sales, stock, budget and product data to support decision-making is expected. Experience with ERP systems, D365, Power BI or Shopify analytics is considered an advantage.

Finnish and English skills are required. Finnish is important due to the Helsinki headquarters and the local market, while English is the common working language of the group.

As a person

You are commercially minded, hands-on and collaborative. You are able to move things forward, keep the bigger picture under control and act as a link between several different stakeholders.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys a broad and responsible position where assortment development, commercial thinking, purchasing, negotiations, suppliers, quality, data, timelines and long-term brand building come together.

We are looking for a proactive, energetic and structured person who can make decisions based on data, experience and commercial understanding, while also building strong collaboration with the Designer, purchasing, marketing, sales, production and suppliers.

What we offer

We offer you the opportunity to be part of Familon’s next growth phase and to strongly influence the future of one of Finland’s most recognized sleep brands. You will have the opportunity to develop the product assortment, commercial range, price structure, purchasing and supplier negotiations, supplier collaboration and product development process in a role with broad responsibility and influence.

You will work as part of the international Wendre Group and collaborate closely with the Product Concept Designer, the Helsinki headquarters, the purchasing function, the product development and production teams in Estonia, and an international supplier network.

The position is based in Helsinki. The role is office-oriented, as it involves working with samples, materials and products, as well as close collaboration with different functions. The role includes travel approximately eight times per year, for example to trade fairs, supplier meetings, trend trips and visits to the product development and production teams in Estonia.

The preferred starting date is as soon as possible / according to agreement.
