Project researcher or doctoral researcher for Well-Being AI project

 

The Department of Computing is looking for a fixed-term project researcher/doctoral researcher in the ESF+-funded national project Well-being AI: Well-being and productivity in the age of artificial intelligence in service sector companies (www.wbai.fi). The University of Lapland coordinates the project, which involves the universities of Vaasa and Turku as well as the universities of applied sciences of Oulu, Jyväskylä and Turku.

The position will be filled as soon as possible according to mutual agreement and the work will end on 30.4.2027. The position is full-time, but part-time work is also possible by mutual agreement.

The Well-being AI project provides support to service sector SMEs of different sizes to improve well-being and productivity at work and to utilise artificial intelligence in business development. The task of the subproject of the University of Turku is, in particular, to increase the use of artificial intelligence in companies and the related design and construction of AI based online service platform for companies throughout the country. This will be done and piloted in cooperation with other co-implementers and companies participating in the project.

The responsibilities of the selected candidate include:

  • Participating in the project as a developer of artificial intelligence and digitalisation, particularly in the innovation, design, and technical implementation of an AI-based service platform intended for use by companies. Additionally, the role involves managing data transfers and organisation on the platform during the project.
  • Assisting companies in promoting and utilising artificial intelligence.
  • Close collaboration and mutual support with the project researcher/doctoral researcher and the project’s specialist researcher, including preparing and implementing regional and national workshops together with other project partners.
  • Performing other tasks necessary for the implementation of the project

Who we are looking for

The position is particularly aimed at individuals who are motivated and capable of pursuing post-graduate studies. The role offers an excellent opportunity to advance post-graduate studies within a multidisciplinary team. Successfully performing the duties requires strong practical knowledge of AI technologies and the ability to apply them in a versatile manner.

The applicant is required to have an applicable master's degree.

A person selected for the post of Project researcher is required to have a higher university degree. The degree must be completed by the end of the application period. When assessing the merits of the applicants, special emphasis will be placed on competence and practical expertise in the field in question.  

A person selected for the post of Doctoral researcher is required to have the right to pursue a doctoral degree at the University of Turku. In addition, when acquiring their degree or otherwise, they are required to have demonstrated the ability and motivation to undertake postgraduate studies and the capacity to complete a doctoral degree in accordance with the research plan.   

 

Salary & trial period

The salaries are determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. For a project researcher / doctoral researcher the salary will be in the beginning of the employment around 2440–2640 euros/month, depending on previous experience and skills. The amount of the salary is defined when the employment contract is prepared.  

A six (6) month trial period applies to the position.
