Remote Sensing Data Scientist

We are now looking for Remote Sensing Data Scientist to join our Remote Sensing research team in Espoo.
As a Remote Sensing Data Scientist, you have a role in our multidisciplinary team working with radar and optical satellite remote sensing, drones, and hyperspectral imaging. In this position, you will have the opportunity to use and develop your skills, whether they are more focused on developing analysis methodologies or providing solutions and developing applications, in projects with varying topics from forestry and agriculture to environmental monitoring and defence and security.
Our team, Remote Sensing, works on data analysis of remotely sensed data, driving innovative earth observation-based solutions. You will be at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies, including time series analysis, near-real-time data processing, AI-based solutions, and multi-source data fusion. As a member of our team, you will collaborate with world-renowned research institutes, universities, and companies, and have the opportunity to contribute to impactful areas such as security, national defense, and natural resource monitoring.
As Remote Sensing Data Scientist you will:
- Work as a researcher in analyzing remotely sensed data
- Participate in project acquisition and grant writing
- Participate in publishing scientific results (in English) and communication with customers and other stakeholders
Who we are looking for:
- PhD or MSc in Geosciences, Electrical engineering, Data science, or similar discipline
- Minimum of two years of working experience in analysing SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) or Hyperspectral data or Mathematical modelling and Earth systems
- Good working knowledge of Python and/or R and prior experience with AI/ML methods and remote sensing
- Good cooperation and networking skills
- Fluent written and oral communication in English
- Good Finnish language skills are seen as an advantage
