We are now looking for a research engineer or a research scientist to join our plastics development team.

As a research engineer/research scientist your key goals are to operate, build and develop our thermoplastics processing equipment in our plastics pilot environment. In this position, you will have an essential role in developing, maintaining, and building equipment setups to fulfil the frequently changing project needs. You will also participate in planning and executing new processing innovations and you participate in an essential role to the piloting activities including plastics compounding, extrusion, injection moulding and related pre- and post-preparation tasks.

Our team, Materials processing and circular solutions, focuses on developing and up-scaling various novel thermoplastic polymer compounds and routes for better circularity of plastics. The team works with all kinds of thermoplastic materials covering most relevant industrial applications areas. We have unique plastic processing pilot facilities and a recognized team with competence more than 20 years in collaboration with industry from different sectors.

Your responsibilities as Research Engineer / Research scientist:

  • Operating, maintaining and building pilot equipment setups
  • Participating in and leading test trials and pilot processing
  • Participating in planning and implementation of projects.
  • Depending on your experience and background you may also have project acquisition and project leading responsibilities.

Who we are looking for:

  • You have e.g., a Bachelors, Master of Engineering or M.Sc. degree (focus in mechanical engineering, polymers, plastics, chemistry or process / environmental engineering).
  • You have technical knowhow of developing and building machines and equipment.
  • You possess at least adequate Finnish and English skills, both written and spoken
  • You have good basic project management and/or organizational skills
  • Work experience from a relevant processing environment or processing equipment development is considered as a benefit.
  • Your previous knowledge of process automation, or your previous experience in industrial thermoplastic processing and/or participation in R&D projects is considered a benefit.
