Research Scientist, 2D-Material Devices for Integrated Photonics

Are you interested in nanoelectronics and integrated photonics and looking for a new job opportunity in the field? Would you like to develop innovative technology with superb colleagues who are top experts in their field? Do you want to build an excellent science career and work at the interface of academy and industry?

We are now looking for Research Scientist for 2D-material integrated photonics development with a strong background in physics, photonics, electronics or process integration. As a research at VTT, you will have an essential role in developing and carrying out research on integrated photonics and 2D-material device optimization. You focus on the characterization, development and fabrication aspects of the active 2D-material components such as high speed integrated modulators. You understand the big picture and participate in the concept development.

Our team develops advanced semiconductor nanocomponents focused on beyond CMOS applications such as graphene photonics, CMOS integrated sensors, in-memory ferroelectric computing, and post-CMOS 3D integration. The developments are made in close collaboration with our academic partners along the lines agreed with our industrial partners.

Your responsibilities as Research Scientist:

  • Research and development of integrated 2D-material based modulators
  • Solving complex nanofabrication and characterization challenges.
  • Communicating and solving the problems in tight collaboration with others at VTT.

Who we are looking for:

  • You have a MSc or PhD in physics, electronics, or closely similar field.
  • You have experience in semiconductor physics, photonics or electronics.
  • You have experience in cleanroom fabrication of nanoscale devices.
