Research Technician or Engineer, Bioprocess Engineering

We are now looking for Research Technician or Engineer to work in our Bioprocess Engineering team
In this position, you will have an essential role in taking part in lab research projects with a project team.
Our Bioprocess Engineering team focuses on providing solutions for a variety of bioprocesses and exploitation of different organisms – from bacteria, yeasts and fungi to algae and plant cells. We do precise monitoring and characterization of microbial physiology in process conditions as well as optimization and scale-up from bench scale cultivations to semi-industrial pilot scale processes.
Together with other research teams in VTT’s industrial biotechnology and food research, we are developing bioinspired processes and products paving a way for circular economy.
Responsibilities:
Laboratory project work with cultivations of several different types of microbes, algae and plant cells and related analytics
Perform laboratory experiments supervised by scientists
Documenting experimental data in lab notebook
Compile experimental data and prepare reports for the scientists
Who we are looking for:
Laboratory technician or comparable technical degree (university level degree is not required for this role)
Work experience with microbial cultivations and excellent laboratory skills
Competence in reporting as part of research projects
Good written and spoken English skills
It’s an advantage, if you also have hands-on experience from one or more of the following areas:
bioreactor cultivations
downstream processing
working with yeast or filamentous fungi
pilot scale cultivations
strong data analysis skills and familiarity with ELN/LIMS type of software
