We are now looking for Researcher / Computational Biologist to join our Bioanalytics and biological data science -team.
 

In this position, you will have an essential role in developing strategies for improving microbial (or plant) cells and microbial communities for sustainable industrial biotechnology and food applications.

Our teamworks on small molecule and protein analytics in biological matrices, automated platforms for molecular biology and microbial cell cultivations, and computational modelling and bioinformatics. With these expertises we support VTT’s bigger mission of solving global challenges through science and technology, sustainability, resource sufficiency and food security in particular.
 

As Researcher / Computational Biologist, you will:

  • You will use your expertise in metabolic modelling, microbial physiology, and synthetic biology to develop model-guided means for microbial strain and community improvement for sustainable applications (industrial biotechnology and novel food solutions)
  • You will engage in an international group of computational biologists and bioinformaticians to develop solutions for other computational biology challenges such as fermentation process modelling, next-generation sequencing data analysis, and finding novel enzymes
  • You will contribute to applying and also apply for research grants
  • You will contribute to both academic and industrial customer research and development projects
     

Who we are looking for:

  • You have a PhD or D.Sc. (in Tech.) in computational biology, biotechnology, or similar field
  • You have track record on experience in metabolic modelling
  • You have additional experience in one of the following additional areas: microbial physiology, bioprocess engineering, microbiology, molecular biology, automation in biotechnology, bioanalytics, machine learning, bioinformatics
