Researcher or Research Engineer, Wafer Level Measurement Automatisation

Are you interested in nano- and microelectronics and looking a new job opportunity in the field?

VTT is one of the leading research organizations in Europe and we are operating the largest R&D cleanroom in the Nordic countries, located in Micronova premises, Espoo. We develop innovative enabling technologies and apply them to practical micro- and nanosystems. We work closely with global players in the microelectronics field, including demanding industrial partners.  What unites us at VTT are the curiosity, passion of learning and devotion to finding solutions to global challenges and answers to our customers’ needs. You can familiarize with us further by exploring VTT’s research infra through VTT World.

We are looking for a researcher or research engineer with strong interest in device characterization and nano- and microelectronics. We offer challenging tasks and responsibilities in the automation of wafer scale electrical measurements. Your work would contribute on broad range of technologies including silicon based photo and X-ray detectors, graphene biosensors, novel memory devices for computing and  artificial intelligence, and silicon-superconductor hybrid quantum circuits. We value ability to identify and solve problems independently and creatively, while working closely and flexibly in a team. Good programming and data-analysis skills are highly valued.

We are interested in both junior and senior professionals. Depending on your background and experience, it is possible to expand the responsibilities above.

Ideally, your background includes the following:

  • Master degree in experimental physics, electrical engineering or related field
  • At least one year of R&D experience on semiconductor or thin film related field
  • At least basic programming skills
  • Cleanroom processing or electrical measurement experience

As a person, you strive for excellent results but also prioritize and make pragmatic choices. You are focused and systematic. You contribute to a positive team spirit and prioritize the needs of the team high. You are hard working but you also communicate, collaborate, and delegate effectively. You are eager to work with new topics with open-minded and curious attitude. You are able to bring clarity over complexity and identify the essential bottlenecks. In addition, you have the ability and patience to tolerate uncertainty and unexpected outcomes.
