Lapland Staff is looking for Safari Guides for various locations of Lapland Safaris for the winter season 2024–2025. We are looking for Safari Guides to work in Luosto, Saariselkä, Levi, Ylläs & Rovaniemi.

As a safari guide, you get to introduce our international guests to the magnificent nature of Lapland and guide them through adventure activities. You may act as a guide, for example, on a snowshoe safari at the top of a fell, take customers on a visit to a reindeer farm or a husky kennel, or snowmobile into the snowy forest to see the Northern Lights. A big part of a safari guide's job is also to guide various bus tours!

Your work tools are snowmobiles, ice fishing gear, e-fat bikes, skis, and snowshoes. Guide's workdays consist of preparing, operating safari programs, and cleaning, and maintaining gear after them.

One of the most essential parts of the job is equipping our customers with winter clothes, and all our safari guides work as part of our equipment team. In the equipment team, you guide our customers to the secrets of winter dressing and wash and maintain overalls, wool socks, and beanies. Whatever you do, every day you get to see the excitement on your customers' faces as they prepare for new and unique experiences!

To be a great guide, we expect you to be accustomed to being outdoors regardless of the weather and to maintain a positive attitude even on long and busy days. Your workdays are rarely the same, and a working day can consist of one or several different tasks and a lot of work is also done in the evening. Changes to your daily tasks may come with short notice!

In addition to outdoor work, variation in your days comes from indoor clothing maintenance work. Work tasks and customer groups vary a little from destination to destination. The guides we are looking for are versatile multi-talents with an open attitude towards different work tasks.

On your days off you can get to know the amazing arctic nature, do multiple winter activities, and spend time with like-minded outdoorsy types. Many of our employees think that the best part of the job are the great colleagues, from all over the world. The high season is quite intensive, so many things happen in a short period. Also, it’s quite all right that your office is surrounded by the amazing photo scenic views of Lapland.

In all our destinations knowledge of the French language is a must, except for Rovaniemi evening/northern lights guides. We train our employees in first aid skills, but we value previously acquired first aid skills. At least a class B driver's license is an essential requirement for the job. BE driver's license is an advantage, as is experience driving a large, 9-seater vehicle in snowy conditions.

At Luosto, the guides also act as elf guides during the Christmas season if they wish.

For Rovaniemi, we are looking for evening/northern lights guides, whose work is mainly focused on evening safaris operated both by bus and snowmobile. Knowledge of photography is useful, as are good storytelling skills.

We expect from you:

  • EU-citizenship/passport or valid working permit to Finland

  • Brisk attitude and wild spirit

  • Excellent cooperation and interaction skills

  • Customer service spirit

  • Flexibility and pressure tolerance

  • Group management skills

  • Interest in Finnish nature, culture and history

  • Fluent English and French - knowledge of German, Italian or Spanish is considered an advantage

We offer you:

  • Fun working days and a supportive team

  • The opportunity to learn about the nature of the North

  • Numerous leisure opportunities enjoying the real winter

  • Staff accommodation (usually in a shared room) with a reasonable monthly rent

  • Comprehensive staff benefits of Lapland Hotels, Lapland Safaris, and Lapland Ski Resorts.

Lapland Safaris organizes training for new guides before the start of employment. The training covers required guide skills, such as first aid, cold protection, problem-solving and batch skills. We practice performing and learn snowmobile skills. The cornerstones of education are knowledge, skill, and safety. The language of education is English, and the education is free of charge.

The employment relationship is a fixed-term seasonal contract according to the collective agreement in Adventure Services. The work will start in November 2024 and will last until the end of March 2025, in Rovaniemi a few positions end already mid-January 2025.

Hourly wage according to Collective Agreement of Adventure Services grade A/B/A-B 10-12,90 € gross. Sundays and Finnish bank holidays are paid double.

Accommodation is usually arranged in shared rooms, with a reasonable rent compared to the local price level. Lapland Safaris is a smoke-free workplace.
