Senior Lecturer in Cell and Molecular Biology
The Department of Biological and Environmental Science is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Cell and Molecular Biology starting on 1 October 2025 or as agreed. The position is in effect until further notice.
The activities of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences are extensive, aiming to understand the fundamental mechanisms of biological natural phenomena from the molecular and cellular level to the functioning of organismal communities and ecosystems. Multidisciplinary collaboration with the Nanoscience Center in research and teaching deepens the understanding of natural basic phenomena using methods from biology, chemistry, and physics. Teaching is based on research conducted at the department, intertwining theoretical approaches with practical training, such as laboratory courses. The department provides comprehensive training for researchers and experts in the broad fields of cell and molecular biology, ecology and evolutionary biology, as well as aquatic and environmental sciences, contributing to the building of a sustainable society for the future.
The department’s research is built on three areas of strength: biological nanoscience, evolutionary research, and sustainable use of natural resources. Our research activities are characterized by an open-minded combination of different fields of biology and an emphasis on empirical research. Basic and applied research naturally go hand in hand, exemplified by studies on the structure and function of antiviral molecules found in nature, the potential of phage therapy as an alternative to antibiotics, or the use of artificial intelligence and citizen science in studying changes in the distribution of migratory bird species.
