Senior Lecturer in Industrial Microbiology

Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is excited to announce an opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled Senior Lecturer in Industrial Microbiology to join our dynamic team at the Myyrmäki campus in Vantaa. Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and mentoring students in the Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering and Laboratory Science degree programs.
- Supervising student theses and supporting their academic and professional development.
- Providing hands-on instruction and guidance in the laboratory, helping students build strong technical skills.
- Engaging in curriculum development to ensure content is modern, relevant, and aligned with industry needs.
- Collaborating with companies to integrate real-world challenges into teaching and applied research.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background:
- MEng/DrEng or MSc/PhD in a relevant field, with a strong technical focus.
- Demonstrated expertise in food microbiology, industrial-scale processes, and laboratory techniques.
- Strong technical skills to guide and instruct students in practical laboratory work.
- Proficiency in teaching in both English and Finnish is preferred. Candidates with a willingness to develop Finnish language skills will also be considered.
- Enthusiastic attitude with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Salary
The salary is determined based on the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences. The starting salary for a Senior Lecturer ranges between €4,000 and €6,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
