(Senior) Research Scientist, Critical cyber-physical systems

We are now looking for a (Senior) Research Scientist to join our Critical cyber-physical systems team in Oulu.  

The team works with embedded and distributed IoT solutions where physical devices (e.g., sensors, actuators, drones, and vehicles) are interacting with cyber-world information systems. Especially, the critical issues in security, privacy, and trust-sensitive industrial cyber-physical scenarios (e.g., security and defence, public safety, energy, traffic, logistics, circular economy) are our focus. We are now looking for a person who is interested in joining the team and working with future challenges together with us. The Critical Cyber-physical Systems team works in the Safe and Connected Society research area. The research area focuses on critical digital technologies that are relevant across the defence, security, and related civil industries. By developing new deep technologies in cyber security, connectivity, and situational awareness and applying them in collaboration with our customers, we create innovations which will support securing the critical functions of society and enhance the defence and security capabilities of nations. We are active in building customer partnerships both nationally and internationally. 

Who we are looking for: 

  • You hold an M.Sc., or Ph.D./Dr degree in Computer Science / Applied Disciplines, e.g. dealing with Distributed Information Systems, Embedded Systems, IoT, Automation, Robotics or Software Engineering
  • You have experience of cyber-physical information systems (e.g., drones, sensors, actuators, vehicles, machines, automation devices, (IoT) service systems) and developing distributed software systems and/or algorithms
  • You are interested in innovative applied scientific work, and collaborations with industrial companies and research organizations e.g. in collaborative research projects
  • You look forward to working in an international context, as well as to developing your capabilities forward in project management and leadership in industrial and/or research context
  • A demonstrated interest in situational awareness, digital trust, cyber security, privacy/ownership protection, credential systems, data spaces, artificial intelligence, Web3, and/or distributed ledgers/blockchains is a plus.
