The Role

As Senior Research Scientist Downstream Processing, you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment and contributing to the growth of our business by strengthening the development of enzyme production processes in the sector of downstream processing. By closing the gap between Downstream processing and Formulation you will contribute to a technically mature and solid process development and transfer from R&D to our Manufacturing site. Process technology is a key competence at AB Enzymes/ R&D and you will be further strengthen this important DSP expertise.

You will:

  • Independently plan, execute and evaluate laboratory scale DSP experiments and help to further shape the discipline and process technology organization
  • Be a direct contributor to DSP and Formulation strategy
  • Take  care of good laboratory and safety practices
  • Scout for key developments/innovations in the DSP/Formulation space and advise R&D leaders in DSP and formulation on (new) technologies
  • Combine the lab-bench with actively coaching members of the team
  • Report and present results towards line manager, R&D team members and project teams
  • Search for IP opportunities in the field of downstream processing, drying and formulation
  • Work in close cooperation with global R&D teams in Germany and Finland

About You

  • PhD, Master or Diploma in the field of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Natural Sciences
  • Several years of work experience in the field of downstream processing/protein purification (including filtration and membrane separation technologies), preferably in the area of industrial enzymes
  • Deep knowledge in protein solubility and stability behaviour
  • Experience in liquid and dry product formulation (spray drying/granulation)
  • Passion for both science and the application thereof to develop new innovative DSP solutions
  • Results focused, well-organised personality
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English (German or Finnish is a Plus)
