We are now looking for Senior Research Scientist to join our Cybersecurity research team. 

As a Senior Research Scientist, you have a leading role in performing cutting edge research on the applications of AI/ML for cybersecurity and/or on safeguarding the security of AI/ML systems. You will contribute to the definition of the long-term roadmap for ML & cybersecurity research in the group and contribute to its execution. You will work in customer projects and collaborative research projects with industrial and academic partners. You will write research proposals and lead collaborative research projects. You will write and communicate about your research results through peer-reviewed publications, reports, patents and oral presentations.  

Our team counts 15+ researchers working on applications of ML to solve cybersecurity problems, the security of ML systems, cybersecurity testing and the security of future networks (e.g., 6G). It is a main contributor to VTT’s mission for building digital trust in society. 

As a Senior Research Scientist, you will: 

• Perform and lead research on ML-based cybersecurity and security of ML. 
• Actively contribute to our strategy on ML & cybersecurity research 
• Support knowledge building around ML in the team. 
• Continuously acquire knowledge and learn new skills. 
• Communicate your research results through peer-reviewed papers, reports, patents and oral presentations. 
• Participate in and lead research projects, commercial and public, on both a national and international level. 

Who we are looking for: 

• You have a PhD degree in machine learning, cybersecurity, computer science, mathematics or another relevant field. 
• You have a strong theoretical knowledge of supervised and unsupervised ML techniques such as SVM, Random Forest, Boosting methods, DNNs, DBScan, etc. 
• You have hands-on experience with Python ML libraries such as ScikitLearn, Pytorch, Keras, Numpy, etc. and ML development platforms.  
• You are knowledgeable about cybersecurity concepts. 
• You have a track record of research publications in machine learning and/or cybersecurity venues. 
• You have critical thinking and an adversarial thinking mindset. 
• You have good scientific writing and presentation skills.
