Are you interested in making smart devices even smarter and more energy-efficient? Are you enthusiastic about working with projects on state-of-the-art sensors and computing hardware? VTT might be just the place for you.
VTT is one of the leading applied research organisations in Europe. What unites us are curiosity, a passion for learning and a purpose: to solve the biggest challenges of our time and turn them into sustainable growth and well-being. Our cross-disciplinary community of over 2300 brilliant minds from 60 different nationalities is focused on creating impact through science-based innovation. Get to know us further by exploring VTT's tech & infra.
We are looking for an ambitious and results-oriented researcher with a strong background in baseband analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits to join our Integrated Circuits team, Espoo.
As a Senior Scientist, you will have a key role in the development of circuits for sensory system control and intelligent signal processing, with a focus on high performance and low energy consumption. You identify and solve problems independently and creatively while working closely and flexibly with a team of experts. Ideally, you could conduct the design from the concept to implementation and verification through measurements. Depending on your background and experience, it is possible to expand the responsibilities below.
Your responsibilities as a Senior Scientist:
- Design of control/readout and/or signal processing electronics for sensory systems and their implementation in VLSI CMOS chips (from specs to GDSII)
- Plan and conduct characterization of the fabricated chips
- Design documentation
- Active contribution to broadening and maintaining project portfolio (planning, preparation, and management)
- Communication and collaboration with other experts at VTT as well as with external partners.
We are looking for a person with:
- Ph.D. in electronics
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience (minimum 10 successful tape-outs) in design of baseband analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits from the requirements to tape-out to measurement verification
- Experience in design of sensor readout/control/signal processing on-chip electronics
- Demonstrable experience in project planning, acquisition, and management
- Experience with neuromorphic computing hardware is a big plus
- Experience in PDK installation and maintenance is a big plus
- Knowledge of AI/ML techniques is a plus
- Experience in design of digital systems is a plus
- Excellent communication skills in English is a must
As a person, we hope that:
- You strive for excellent results, but you also can prioritize and make pragmatic choices.
- You pay attention to details but understand the big picture and provide input at all stages.
- You contribute to a positive team spirit friendly atmosphere.
- You are eager to work with new topics with open-minded and “can-do” attitude.
- You are a fast learner capable of working in a flexible and independent manner.
With VTT, you’ll enjoy:
- Visionary work in technology. We offer positions at the cutting-edge of technology and engineering, from next-generation microelectronics and quantum technology to automation and robotics, energy systems, and more. Our research agenda is dedicated to creating sustainable growth by solving systemic and technological challenges, so your work will go towards creating a real, positive impact.
