In Elisa’s International Digital Services, you can join a multidisciplinary team that is harnessing data and AI to overcome issues arising from wind and solar becoming the main forms of energy production. As a Senior Software Engineer, you would bring your expertise on developing complex mission critical software systems to the team and enable us pilot and scale the new solutions to commercial reality. Most of our work is backend heavy (Python) but as with all the small teams we appreciate broad set of skills. If you have skills and interests to work with frontend and data, great! 

Are you excited about energy ecosystem transforming to zero-carbon era? Do you enjoy developing new solution concepts from idea stage to pilot installations to full-scale commercial launch? Can you see what should be technically feasible and progress towards that by iteratively removing the largest uncertainties first building high quality code? What the role is all about? 

You will be designing and implementing software and systems to build up a comprehensive and high-quality distributed system in the technical domain of Smart Energy Solutions.  

Our working environment is agile and fast-paced and we are constantly looking for ways to improve our processes. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy this type of atmosphere as much as we do!  

We’re working with a broad stack – all the way from embedded battery management systems to ETL pipelines, distributed systems and mobile applications.  

What do we expect from you? 

• Solid experience in modern software development (DevOps, Test Driven, Agile, clean code) building products 
• Python is very familiar to you, especially in the context of mission critical and data intensive applications 
• You are a team player used to working in a startup-like environment  
• Experience with highly distributed near real time systems 
• Great but not mandatory: If you have frontend development experience (React) and mobile experience (Flutter) 
• Nice to have: AWS experience, experience building ETL pipelines and datalakes (Databricks), Machine Learning experience and energy market knowledge is a plus

Most of our team is based in Helsinki (some in Tampere and Turku), but like the rest of the Elisians, we can work flexibly (in Southern Finland).
