We are now looking for a Data Architect to join our Architect team 

As a Data Architect, you have a role in development of data governance, data architecture, facilitating data management team meetings and helping researchers and projects in different data management challenges. You will ensure that data development initiatives align with business goals, industry best practices, and security guidelines. In this position, you will have the opportunity to help our business in overcoming their challenges by understanding business strategy and aligning technological implementations to support our business objectives. A proficient grasp of technology is expected, allowing you to translate business requirements into effective technological solutions.  

Our architect team works on enterprise and data architect development, improving internal IT development process and development of project processes and tools.  

As data architect, you will: 

• Create data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. 

• Lead a virtual cross-functional data management team developing VTT’s data governance and guidelines for the organization and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 

• Understand databases, data models and how to ensure efficient data storage solutions. 

• Design data flows and integration from multiple sources, providing a unified view of the organization's data. 

• Design migration on-premise data systems to cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, leveraging the scalability and flexibility of cloud technologies. 

Who we are looking for: 

• Understanding of data management fundamental such as data governance, data modeling, data quality, master and reference data and metadata management 

• Understanding of the principles of databases, data warehouses 

• Good documentation skills 

• Ability to work independently and in a team 

• Good written and verbal communication skills both in English and Finnish to be able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders  

• Education and work experience suitable for the position
