Nosto Site Reliability/Systems Engineer

About the Opportunity
Our team is a hybrid DevOps and infrastructure team that has knowledge about our applications and backend systems and how to maintain and improve them. All of our environments are running in the cloud and our task is to make them scalable, available, and secure. We are true believers in automation and build solutions that minimize manual configuration and operational burden.
Responsibilities:
Bridge the gap between developers and infrastructure. Assist team with testing & implementation of new technologies and/or services including methods, policies and procedures for installation, management, monitoring and support.
Participate in ongoing technology evaluations and keep up with technology trends and industry standards
Operate infrastructure projects pertaining to AWS platforms and services
Performance analysis and optimization, monitoring and problem resolution, upgrade
planning and execution, and process creation and documentation to continually improve
quality of Stackla’s services
Ensure service availability & reliability of infrastructure services and optimize or
re-design existing services as needed
Monitor and improve the continuous integration and continuous deployment and
automation process of the Stackla application, and it’s supporting services
Provide regular updates on advantages and potential opportunities for new technologies
and automation.
Establish close working relationships with all areas of the tech team to provide solutions
to complex IT problems
Assist team with testing & implementation of new technologies and/or services including methods, policies and procedures for installation, management, monitoring and support
Design and run system load/stress testing, documenting outcomes, debug infrastructure issues and escalate documented problems and suggest improvements based on technology, best practices
What we expect
There are a lot of different technologies we use at Nosto, and we're not expecting you to master all of them. Talent and the right attitude will definitely take you a long way. We also believe you would bring something new to the team with you. Here are some traits we're expecting you to have:
Proven experience (2+ years) as an SRE/DevOps Engineer or in a similar developer role.
Experience in planing, building and maintaining Amazon Web Services based infrastructure running high transaction SaaS applications.
Good understanding of Linux systems administration (Amazon Linux, RHEL, CentOS or similar distribution) and networking.
Experience with microservice and serverless applications.
Proficiency with bash and object-oriented scripting languages such as PHP.
Solid understanding of software, infrastructure, and general InfoSec theories and best
practices.
Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English. Comfort
creating documentation covering all areas of the role for internal and external audiences.
What we appreciate:
These are not hard requirements or skills we’re expecting you to already have, but something we appreciate and will be valuable on your journey at Nosto.
Exposure to infrastructure as code tools like CloudFormation and Terraform.
Experience utilizing Docker, Amazon ECS and related containerization technologies.
Experience working with Varnish, Nginx, Jenkins, Vagrant, PHP, NodeJs, PM2, Ansible,
MongoDB, Postgresql.
A passion for learning and a desire to master new technologies.

Working at Nosto you’ll be one of the leading developers within a global product company. You’ll work in a modern and fast-moving product team with experienced and friendly teammates. Our UGC product team is located on the East Coast of Australia, with many in the Greater Sydney Area.
Interviews will be conducted remotely, and new hires will also get started working from home.
We’re primarily looking for candidates in Sydney, but are open to candidates across Western and Southern part of Australia who are comfortable with a full remote working environment. (We won’t be considering international applicants for this role).
