Finnish National Opera Orchestra announces audition for
SOLO VIOLA
Permanent position starting on 9.1.2026, or by agreement
AUDITION will take place at the Finnish National Opera on Monday 27.10.2025.
Required pieces:
1) 1st movement without cadenza from one of the following concertos:
F. Hoffmeister: Viola Concerto D major
C. Stamitz: Viola Concerto D major No. 1 (Op. 1)
2) 1st movement from one of the following concertos:
B. Bartók: Viola Concerto
W. Walton: Viola Concerto
P. Hindemith: Der Schwanendreher
3) Chamber music excerpt WA Mozart: String Quartet G minor KV 516 (1st movement)
4) Orchestral excerpts
Music for the chamber music and orchestral excerpts will be available after the application has been sent.
Salary range: EUR 4432,16-5231,50 /month. In addition, instrument and dress reimbursement and remuneration for recording.
An accompanist will be provided but candidates may bring their own pianist if they so desire.
The candidates selected for the audition will be informed after the application closing date.
Position is open to applicants of any nationality.

The Chief Conductor is Hannu Lintu. Apart from opera and ballet performances, the Orchestra gives symphony and chamber music concerts.
