Sustainability Manager

We’re looking for a SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER for a permanent position in our Marketing, Communications and Sustainability team in Espoo.
What will you get to do?
As the Sustainability Manager, you hold a key role in enabling sustainable business practices at Metsä Tissue, and have an excellent opportunity to contribute to the sustainability practices of the whole Group by active participation in the company forums.
One of your main responsibilities is to support value creation with good sustainability governance at Metsä Tissue. You will be responsible for coordinating our sustainability KPIs, facilitating the creation and updates of our sustainability roadmaps, managing and developing the Metsä Tissue Sustainability Steering Group forum (which governs the company’s sustainability actions and targets), and contributing to Metsä Tissue’s sustainability reporting as part of Metsä Group’s annual reporting.
You will have the opportunity to run projects that support sustainability related value creation and your proactive input in innovating and developing the company’s sustainability practices is highly valued. Your tasks can include eg. managing sustainability-related tools and processes such as Life Cycle Assessment calculations.
One of your key tasks will be providing support to our organization with your sustainability expertise, including sales and marketing support on sustainability topics, participation in internal and external sustainability forums, supporting customer requests on need basis and running sustainability related trainings to the organization. As part of your role, you will also get to identify topics for and create materials to support sustainability communications to drive increased understanding and to talk about our success stories. You will also get to guide the work of a sustainability summer trainee.
What kind of skills are we looking for?
You are proactive and dynamic professional with an analytical mindset. With your independent and self-driven way of working, you take ownership of the tasks that you are responsible of and are able to create the needed networks within the company and the Group to support your work. You are a strong project leader who is result oriented, precise, and accurate with facts as well as a good and clear communicator. You have strong social and team working skills and you find it easy to network with various stakeholders both internally and externally. You are interested in understanding different sustainability concepts and their linkage to business and have a high development orientation. Most of all, you are driven and motivated to develop sustainable company operations with your positive and proactive approach.
We expect you to have:
Understanding of the different elements of sustainability and ability to create value to business with sustainability. Interest in understanding various sustainability related concepts and their linkage to business
Ability to manage, develop, and govern the company’s sustainability agendas and strategies
Understanding of sustainability reporting practices and reporting in external 3rd party platforms such as EcoVadis
Understanding of Life Cycle Assessment calculations
Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to create understandable and motivating sustainability communication and training materials and the capability to train on sustainability topics.
Excellent project management skills together with good leadership skills in networks
Min. 3-5 years of sustainability management-related experience, including eg. KPIs & roadmaps management, sustainability reporting and project management of sustainability initiatives
Master's degree focused on sustainability
Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Good knowledge of Finnish is also highly appreciated
Knowledge of an industrial operating environment is seen an asset.
