Talent Advisor Trainee
The University of Turku has launched two brand new International Bachelor’s Degree programmes in ICT and in Sustainable and Social Entrepreneurship. Altogether 50 new international and national students from Africa, Asia and Europe will start their degree studies at the Faculty of Technology and at the Turku School of Economics in September 2025.
The first year of studies has a determining impact on the integration of the students into the academic community and into the society. The goal of the University of Turku is to welcome new students into the academic community and help them integrate into the university world and into the society. In order to be able to do this, the faculties are hiring two international talent advisors (one for each faculty), who will support the new students so that everyday student life and functioning as a member of the academic community and of the society becomes familiar.
Job description
The Faculty of Technology is searching for one (1) talent advisor trainee for Department of Computing. The work position is part-time (50% working time) and it can be flexibly combined with the degree studies. The position is fixed-term and will start in the beginning of August 2025 and last until the end of December 2025 (31.12.2025).
The tasks of the Talent Advisor Trainee are to:
- support the international student tutors by facilitating the integration of the international students with the domestic students,
- act as the link between the students, student tutors and faculty staff,
- act as the link between the students and student associations and student union,
- act as a link between students and the programme coordinator,
- support and help the admitted students in everyday matters if needed,
- support the potential family members of the students and guide them further,
- help with the cultural adjustment of the international students,
- support the academic and administrative personnel in the study counselling by non-formally sharing their own experiences on studying at the UTU,
- make regularly (at least once a week after the start of the studies) sure that everything is in order with the students;
- collaborate with the talent advisor trainee of the TSE Sustainable Engineering programme and share experiences and actively develop the orientation and integration services that are offered to the international students
Title: Trainee
Salary: The salary is 1430 euros per month, when working full-time.
Trial period: 2 months
Who we are looking for
You can apply for this position, if you are a degree student at the University of Turku at the Faculty of Technology and are familiar with the practicalities of studying at the faculty and at the University of Turku. You need to be easily approachable, positive and motivated to support the young international students work collaboratively with faculty members. You have good problem-solving skills and you possess a solution-driven mind-set. Fluent written and oral English skills are needed. Previous work experience or free-time experience from working with internationals or in an international environment is highly appreciated as well as being familiar with student associations and student union relevant to the programme.
